CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In order to develop national consciousness students are encouraged to join the NSS. The NSS Unit undertakes campus cleaning, maintaining vermi-compost pit, visiting A.I.D.S Centre, organizing various competitions on festivals and awareness of social issues. A voluntary 7 days NSS live-in camp a one day special camp are some of the main features. The National Social Service scheme with its motto "NOT ME BUT YOU" upholds the need for selflessness, service and appreciation of other persons point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. At "C.H.S.S." the N.S.S. motto is put into practice and students learn the importance of human values through community service.
National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and Universities all over India. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps.
Young volunteers can make a significant contribution to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people in the society through the activities of the red cross.
The YRC unit at Carmel Higher Secondary School aims to train and involve young women as much as possible in the activities of the red cross by conducting training sessions on topics like first aid, bandaging, health care, healthy living, through the dissemination of the principles of red cross and promotion of the red cross ideals of International friendship.
